Deacon Steve Dupay

I’m Deacon Steven Dupay, and I have the new joy of serving God’s people at the Church of St. Henry. I was ordained a deacon in June 2002, shortly after receiving a master’s degree in theology with an emphasis in pastoral ministry. I married my high school sweetheart Betsy. We have been blessed with 43 years of marriage, four beautiful children who are married to four beautiful children, and we have been graced with nine wonderful grandchildren. Both Betsy and I are Minnesota natives, and we both grew up in Northeast Minneapolis. We currently reside in Big Lake.
I received my bachelor’s degree from the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, MN in Quantitative Methods and worked in the computer field for 20 years. About 23 years ago I made some big decisions about my life and left the corporate world to become an instructor at a Hennepin Technical College in the Twin Cities teaching computer programming. At about the same time I also decided to pursue a vocation in ministry.
In my ministry as deacon I have been blessed with many opportunities to serve the Lord and His people. I truly enjoy being a deacon as I prepare people for sacraments, serve at the altar, preside at baptisms, marriages and funerals, and provide spiritual direction and pastoral counseling.
Another facet of my life is that I am a convert to the Catholic Church, thanks to my wife. I was initiated into the Orthodox Church about the age of one year. On that day, I was Baptized, Confirmed (Chrismation) and received my First Communion! I was brought into the Catholic Church a few months before Betsy and I were married. I truly believe, with all my heart, that the Catholic Church is the church founded by Jesus Christ, and that it has the fullness of faith.
I am excited about this new opportunity to grow in my faith and help others around me to grow in their faith. I look forward to meeting each of you and walking with you on an exciting faith journey.
