Thank You! From Father Tony
I call you friends because that is what you are! Or maybe I should say, family. I want to thank you for all of the nice ways in which you recalled all of the good things that have taken place in your lives and at Saint Henry’s with the cards and monetary gifts that you gave me this past Sunday. I was somewhat taken aback by the things you said and it really has been a pleasure to lead you as your pastor. I have seen you grow in faith in Jesus. I am so glad that we can gather again before our Lord together at Mass. I really enjoy talking with you all afterward in the gathering space.
I have watched you care for your parish in so many sacrificial ways, from participating in the ministries of the liturgy to caring for our beautiful building to volunteering to teach faith formation or helping with youth ministry. I have seen you take advantage of the new faith formation opportunities that we have offered over these past few years, such as small groups, book clubs, and Christ Renews His Parish.
One of my favorite memories is watching teachers file in to teach their class or lead a small group. Many of you are doing so many things already. That spoke powerfully to me!
Thank you for making me feel so at home as your pastor and all of your well-wishes as I go to Guardian Angels in Chaska. Today we celebrate a great moment in the lives of our children – First Holy Communion. Let’s remember to pray for them that they may always join at the altar of Christ and center their lives around the Holy Eucharist. Let’s also remember to pray for our Archbishop and Bishop Cozzens. They need our prayers! And finally, let’s pray for your new pastor-to-be Father Patrick Barnes. He will bring new gifts to Saint Henry’s!
Thank you again for all of the kindness and friendship that you have shown me.
