WHAT is GROW?
GROW is an Archdiocesan planning process designed to help parishes grow in clarity of their
strengths and focus on their pastoral and administrative missions.
WHAT DOES THIS MEAN FOR SAINT HENRY’S?
This means that our church leadership must constantly focus their attention on the needs of its
members. In other words, that the church through its programs and ministries is meeting the
expectations and needs of the membership to best of its ability. This process ensures the future
viability and relevance of the church in our members lives both spiritually and pastorally.
HOW DOES THE CHURCH KNOW WHAT ITS MEMBERS NEED OR WANT?
Over the last 2 years, a GROW Planning Team made up of staff and parishioners with guidance from the Archdiocese has been compiling feedback from our members through surveys and both small and large group meetings with ministry leaders and parishioners. A great deal of information was gathered. Now it is time to put the plan into action. This will be one of the largest undertakings in our church mobilizing nearly all of the standing committees to bring these programs to fruition as quickly as possible. For our members, this is also a great opportunity to come forward and help make these plans a reality. If any of these initiatives strike a chord with you, let the office know and we’ll get you in contact with the ministry heading up the initiative.
WHAT ARE THE KEY ELEMENTS OF THIS PLAN?
Our parish members responded with a multitude of suggestions and ideas of ways to grow, enhance and express their faith experience here at Saint Henry’s. Our GROW team took all this information and distilled it down into 6 primary Pastoral Need categories. These Pastoral Need categories (in brief) are:
• COMMUNICATIONS & STEWARDSHIP
Advance ministry awareness, utilize multi-media to promote events and ministry opportunities
Teach stewardship as a way of life and connect it to my faith, host ministry fairs, inspire a culture of stewardship
• SACRAMENTS & WORSHIP
Teaching homilies, Youth Mass, encourage ministry involvement, promote welcoming atmosphere
• FAITH FORMATION & EVANGELIZATION
Outreach to inactive Catholics, encourage volunteer participation, develop Religion Board, small group opportunities
• CHARITY, PASTORAL CARE & SOCIAL JUSTICE
Identify a pastoral care coordinator, greater outreach to elderly in our community, raise social justice awareness
• HISPANIC MINISTRY
Invitations to coordinate bi-lingual events, integrate leaders for bi-lingual planning of Christmas & Holy Week liturgies
• ADMINISTRATION & BUILDING MAINTENANCE
Develop capital improvement renewal plan, develop volunteer list for monthly upkeep needs
