This process, known as the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults and Children, provides formation for those seeking membership in the Catholic Faith. The adult process includes several weeks of inquiry during which an overview of the Catholic faith is presented. The next period is known as the Catechumenate, a time when candidates reflect on the Sunday Scripture readings. Sponsors join them following Mass during which there is a sharing on the impact the Scriptures have on their lives. As Lent and Easter nears there are other phases of the process. Children and youth ages 7-14 participate in the faith formation program as well as sessions focused on the Sacraments of Initiation. The RCIA seeks to nurture and celebrate the Catholic faith with all who long for a deeper relationship with Christ.
